The English start-up CUDAJET has developed the first “jetpack” (jet engine) that allows rapid underwater movement with compact equipment giving maximum freedom to underwater swimmers.

The ambition is clear, to explore the seabed and “play” underwater, benefiting from enhanced mobility while still being just a swimmer.

Besides the recreational aspect, it’s likely that there are other more “practical” uses, such as checking the anchoring of one’s boat or retrieving an object lost at sea. The system is not yet paired with an underwater breathing solution, but that’s probably just a matter of time…​
